About us
Our small company is based on a deep passion for what we do
and the will to be part of the evolution of this sector in Zanzibar.
The idea developed from the need to provide services that were missing on certain areas of the island, like a professional Hair & Beauty Salon in Kiwengwa, but also to improve the quality of already existing sectors such as Boutiques and Beauty treatments.
We believe that our presence in Zanzibar since a long time, and the will to stay for much longer, is a guarantee of continuity and reliability for our clients and partners.
We are strongly oriented to the constant improvement of the quality of the services that we offer, while establishing a healthy business able to provide for us and for our team members.

Matilde
Matilde has been a hairdresser for more than 20 years.
As it was custom in those days she started as a teenager in a local shop while she studied to obtain the Professional Qualification for Female and Male Hairdresser.
All her training took place in Italy where she owned her own salon ‘Matilde Acconciature’ for 7 years before deciding to explore the world and eventually settle in Zanzibar, where she has been for the last 20 years.
Matilde has always been employed by renowned hotel chains on the island as a Boutique and Spa Manager, although she has never stopped being a hairdresser. In the early days here in Zanzibar there weren’t many hairdressers around so her skills were always requested by tourists and Expats alike.
Through the years she has gained a respectable reputation as a hairstyle and makeup artist for weddings in Zanzibar.
Matilde is very well known on the island for her skills and professionalism but also for her wonderful smile.

The growth of the central-north area of Zanzibar as holiday and residential destination brought along with it the increasing demand of professional services. We knew that we could fulfill the need of professional hairdressing, beauty services & more, so in July 2018, the doors of MATI BEAUTY & MORE were opened.
The salon is located in Kiwengwa, at the Itaset Point (opposite Kiwengwa Police Station), with easy access from the main road and a large parking area. The choice of the location has been carefully made to give a completely stress-free experience to our clients.
Once inside you’ll be welcomed in a modern air-conditioned space where the professional equipment blends perfectly with the African style of the furniture. A wide range of professional hair and beauty services is available at the salon for anyone that wants to have a top quality hair or beauty treatment while in Zanzibar.
